Elizabeth L Bess passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025. Born on February 11, 1946, in Bonifay, FL she lived a full and meaningful life dedicated to those around her.
Elizabeth was the heart of her family and a steady presence through every season of life. She was known for her kindness, her quiet wisdom, and the deep love she showed to everyone she met. Her home was always a welcoming place, filled with warmth and laughter.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father Eddie Kirkland, mother Essie Kirkland, and children Linda Bess and Mary Jenkins.
She is survived by her children: Curtis Bess of Bonifay, FL; Willie Joe Bess (Debra) of Bonifay, FL; Tony Bess of Bonifay, FL; Janice Perkins of Bonifay, FL; Joanne Register (Gary) of Crawfordville, FL; Jeanette Martin (Jason Hobbs) of Slocomb, AL; along with 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered for the love she gave freely, her gentle sense of humor, and the way she made life better for those around her. Her legacy lives on in the stories we tell, the traditions we keep, and the love that continues to bind us together.
A visitation will be held at Peel Funeral Home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm. A service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00 am at Peel Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Bonifay Cemetery.
Elizabeth will be missed more than words can express, but her love will remain with us always.
