Mr. Emery Eugene Harless, age 82, of Bonifay, Florida passed away February 2, 2022, at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama. He was born May 24, 1939, in Milton, West Virginia to the late Ernest Emery Harless and Lydia Porter Harless. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harless was preceded in death by one sister, Eva Sowards and husband Charles, his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Harless.
Mr. Harless is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene Marie Harless of Bonifay, FL; three children, Terry Lyn Farwell and husband Dean of Chesterfield, MO, Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Harless of Deatsville, AL, and Emery E. Harless, II of Bonifay, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harless was a retired US Army Vietnam Veteran and Chief Warrant Officer. He proudly served our country for 21 years. He earned the following medals: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam; Campaign Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm; and
the Good Conduct Medals. He retired here in Bonifay to farm which was one of his passions. He did custom hay work and was a rural mail carrier. He was a Christian and devoted husband and father. He was a member of the Esto Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 7, 2022, at Esto Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Esto Community Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 PM at Esto Church of Christ.
