Mr. JB Yates, age 80, of Westville, Florida departed this life to meet his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2022. JB was a man of few words and a lot of knowledge. He was Christian by faith and a longtime member of Otter Creek Church. He was a graduate of Ponce de Leon High School Class of 1960. JB worked more than forty years in construction. He loved tending to his cows, planting his garden, and fishing with his fishing partner Tessie. Most of all, he loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
Mr. Yates was born January 23, 1942, in Westville, Florida to the late HF (Buddy) Yates and Ottice Grant Yates. In addition to his parents, JB was preceded in death by his grandson, Chase Burgess.
Mr. Yates is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Tessie Thomas Yates; sons, Richard Yates and wife Lisa and Randall Yates and wife Lori all of Westville, FL; grandchildren, Randall Jr, Tyla, Ryan and wife Shelby, Sha-Lea, Skylar, Jesse, and Darren; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Logan, RyLeigh, Korbyn, Kiara, Kollin, Maisyn, Kylar, Weston, and Miranda; four sisters, Eleanor Legear, Donna Faye Griggs, Carolyn Pugh and husband Donnie, and Vinita Yon and husband Joel; two brothers, Glenn Yates and Terry Yates and wife Pat; a special sister-in-law, Nora Mae Hicks and best friend David Hicks along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Peel Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 4, 2022, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Phillip Gainer and Ron Alderman officiating. Final resting place will be at Campground Cemetery in Westville, FL.
Pallbearers will be members of his Metric Engineering Family: Tony Jackson, Donnie Jackson, Darrel Burnett, Ed Goddin, Michael McCrary, Doug Cauley, and Melvin Rhodes.
