JODIE TOOLE HELMES

Mrs. Jodie Toole Helmes, age 49, of Geneva, Alabama passed away March 22, 2026, at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  She was born on September 27, 1976, in Winter Garden, Florida.  Jodie was preceded in death by her father, G.M. Toole, her mother, Patsy Sue Close Toole, and one nephew, Andrew James Toole. 

Jodie attended Lake Weir High School in Ocala, Florida, where she made lasting friendships and enjoyed being involved in school activities. She was a spirited participant in powder puff football and found great joy in singing in the choir.

Above all, Jodie’s greatest love was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and two boys, whom she adored beyond measure. Her love only grew as she became a grandmother, treasuring every moment spent with her grandsons.

Mrs. Helmes is survived by her husband, Donnie Helmes of Geneva, AL; two sons, Cody Blackburn and Ashlee of Opp, AL and Alexander McLean and Lea of Geneva, AL; three grandsons, Maxwell McLean, Carson Finedore, and Braylon Huckabaa; her brother, Harley Eugene Toole of Belleview, FL; three sisters, Luci Toole King and Kevin of Geneva, AL, Patricia Lillian Smith and Lester of Ocklawaha, FL, and Suanna Mae Peters and Kenneth of Atmore, AL; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, March 27, 2026, at Smith Chapel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Zach Dodson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Smith Chapel Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Smith Chapel Assembly of God Church, 2549 Smith Chapel Road, Bonifay, Florida 32425.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Sullin, Charley Toole, P J Helms, Christopher Blackburn, Johnathan Helmes, and Joshua Metcalf.
