Mr. John Edward “Johnny” Wilson, age 64, of Vernon, Florida passed to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 20, 2026 surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home. He was born October 13, 1961 in Winterhaven, Polk County, Florida to his late father Herbert Wilmer Wilson and his beloved momma Betty Jean Richardson Wilson. Johnny was also preceded in death by brothers, Michael, Kenny and Randy.

As an accomplished and detailed carpenter, Johnny constructed many projects during his lifetime career.   The house he built with his own hands to share with his beloved wife, Linda, was one of his most cherished accomplishments as he provided for those he loved and valued. One of Johnny’s greatest joys in life was to be called “Papa” by his adoring grandchildren.

As an avid outdoor sportsman, Johnny loved fishing and hunting. He could be recognized readily by his signature overalls and the straw hat he wore as his daily attire. Johnny battled many struggles, overcoming the obstacles of life. His profession of his faith in his Lord by accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior was his greatest testimony.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Linda Smith Wilson; stepchildren, Nichole, Ashley, and Will; children by choice, Sheena and Matthew; grandchildren, Ty, Bo, Landyn, Londyn, and Weslyn; grandchildren by choice, Havannah and Mason; sisters, Sandra (Anthony) and Teressa; half-sister, Tina.  Pallbearers: Sheena, Nichole, Jason, Ronald, Isaac, Will Spivey; honorary pallbearer: Quincy Carnley.

Graveside Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Vernon City Cemetery, Vernon, Florida. Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements
