Mrs. Mary Gault Cairns, age 73, of Bonifay, Florida, passed away June 5, 2026, at her home. She was born on March 1, 1953, in Washington, Pennsylvania to the late Archie Clyde Gault and Alice Anna Hurley Gault. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by one niece, Michelle Coleman.
For many years, Mary served as a teacher's aide at H.L. Johnson Elementary School in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. She loved the children she worked with as if they were her own, offering encouragement, patience, and a caring heart to every student who crossed her path. Her nurturing nature made a lasting impact on generations of children.
During the summer months away from school, Mary found joy in spending time with her family. She enjoyed home renovation projects and took pride in creating a welcoming home filled with love. She also loved being outdoors, appreciating the beauty of nature.
Mary's greatest treasures were her family. She shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband Mike, a partnership built on love, faith, and unwavering commitment. She was a devoted mother and an adoring grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world.
Those who knew Mary will remember her as having the sweetest and kindest soul. She possessed an unlimited capacity for love and never spoke a harsh word. Her warm smile, gentle heart, and caring nature brought comfort and joy to everyone around her. She was truly the embodiment of love.
Mary's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the example she set will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come.
Mrs. Cairns is survived by her husband, Mike Cairns of Bonifay, FL; two children, Jennifer Powell and husband Matthew of Panama City Beach, FL and Michael Cairns Jr and wife Amy of Midland, NC; five grandchildren, Logan Powell, Xander Powell, Lilliana Cairns, Olivia Cairns, and Michael ‘Trey’ Cairns III; one sister, Theresa Coleman and husband Everett; one nephew, Chadd Coleman.
Memorialization will be by cremation with a private family celebration of life at a late date.
