Neal Blitch, age 87, of Bonifay, FL, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. She was born March 24, 1935, in Birmingham, Alabama to Harry Adrian Ulmer and Nello Estelle (Walters) Ulmer.
She was a 1953 graduate of West End High School, Birmingham, AL. where she was the head majorette for the West End Lions.
In 1957, Neal met and married Ed Blitch, Jr., in Stuart, FL. The couple had two children, son, Edwin and daughter, Meri-Neal.
Neal and Ed began a 40-year career in the restaurant business, establishing Blitch’s Family Restaurant in Inverness, FL from 1968-1978 and then in Bonifay, FL from 1979-2009. The couple also owned and operated Blitch’s Western Store in Inverness for several years. While in Inverness, Neal was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Neal began her second career as a real estate agent in the late 1990’s and worked for Holmes County Realty until her retirement.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bonifay, where she was a faithful participant in the prayer ministry. She believed in the power of prayer and was a prayer warrior for all her family, friends, and community members. Neal was a volunteer with the Doctors Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, reaching out to patients and visitors by sharing her faith through ministry and prayer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Adrian Ulmer, Sr. and Nello Estelle (Walters) Ulmer, brother, Harry (Hal) Adrian Ulmer, Jr., her husband, Stewart Edwin Blitch, Jr., and daughter, Meri-Neal (Blitch) Carter.
Neal is survived by her son, Stewart Edwin Blitch III, wife Brenda of Bonifay, FL; sister, Billie J. (Ulmer) Seymour and brother Jerry Alfred Ulmer, Gardendale, AL; grandson, Benjamin Blitch, wife Jana, and great granddaughter Bella, Lynn Haven, FL; grandson, Brian Blitch, wife Kristin, and great granddaughter Eleanor, Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter Scotti (Carter) Davis, husband Justin, great grandson, Carter and great granddaughter, Carli, Forsythe GA; grandson Brett Blitch, wife Jakye and great grandsons, Jonah and Jude, Syracuse, NY; son-in-law Scott Carter, wife Janice, Wildwood, FL; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Bonifay, FL. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
