ROCKY  LANE  KOONS

Mr. Rocky Lane Koons, age 68, of Bonifay, Florida passed away April 16, 2024, at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay.  He was born May 3, 1955, in Bakersfield, California.  Rocky was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Frederick David Koons and his mother, Joyce Delores Svatek.

A man of unwavering loyalty, honesty, and humor, departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and faithfulness. With a heart devoted to God, Rocky cherished every moment spent in the company of his loved ones.  Every morning, he enjoyed coffee at the local Fresh Grounds coffee shop, savoring the simple joys of life over a rich cup of coffee.

Rocky's wisdom and guidance were sought after by many, as he generously shared his advice and compassion with those in his path. A true overachiever, Rocky was not only a hero to his children but also a mentor to countless others.

His love for life was evident in his indulgence in sweets, particularly ice cream and chocolate chip cookies, as well as in his enjoyment of a hearty steak dinner. Yet, above all, Rocky found the greatest joy in the laughter shared with his beloved wife and the warmth of his cherished family.

As a dedicated deacon at First Baptist Bonifay, Rocky's commitment to his faith shone brightly through his teachings in the Overcomers Sunday School class and leadership in his D group. His passion for spreading the gospel knew no bounds, touching the lives of all who crossed his path.

Though Rocky may have departed from this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, faith, and laughter will continue to inspire and uplift generations to come.

Mr. Koons is survived by his wife, Cindy Emdy-Koons; seven children, David Koons, Jessica Koons, Rachel Anderson and Tim, Rebekah Gheen and Kourtney, Josh Koons and Sierra, Jodi Emdy, and Josh Emdy & Jennifer; two siblings, Debbie Green and John and Mark Koons and Lynette; nineteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, April 21, 2024, at First Baptist Church Bonifay with Rev. Shelly Chandler officiating.  Memorialization will be by cremation with Peel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4:00 PM Sunday at First Baptist Church Bonifay.
