ARVELENE GAIL MATTHEWS

Ms. Arvelene Gail Matthews, age 85, of Bonifay, Florida passed away February 29, 2024, at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay.  She was born October 4, 1938, in Weiner, Arkansas to the late Clyde Caplinger and Lora Mae Smith Caplinger.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Houston Matthews and four siblings, Salden, Billy, Geraldine, and Joann.

Ms. Matthews is survived by two sons, Steven Burris of Bonifay, FL and Glenn Matthews of Bonifay, FL; one daughter, Tammy Matthews of Bonifay, FL; one brother, Jackie Caplinger; two sisters, Regina West and Joyce; five grandchildren, David Thomas, Heather Kneller, Jimmy Burris, Zachary Matthews, and Jonathan Griffin; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6 PM and a celebration of life service will begin at 6:00 PM Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow with Peel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
