Mr. Billy Joseph ‘BJ’ Shirah, age 28, of Bonifay, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savoir unexpectedly on October 17, 2023, at his home. He was born March 30, 1995, in Marianna, Florida. BJ was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph Shirah, maternal grandmother, Helen Brown Register, and maternal grandfather, John ‘Junior’ Brown.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a loving father to Mary and Joseph. BJ was cherished as a devoted son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin. His passion for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him, and his unwavering faith served as a guiding light throughout his life. May his legacy continue to live on in the hearts of all those who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
BJ is survived by his two children, Mary Shirah and Joseph Shirah; his parents, Billy and Charlotte Shirah; one sister, Hannah Wages and husband Landon; one brother, Samuel ‘Sam’ Shirah; his paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Shirah; aunts and uncles, Sharon Brown, Darrell Brown and wife Teresa, Michael Shirah, Bobby Shirah and wife Sharon, Carl Shirah and wife Kristie, and Scotty Shirah; numerous cousins and extended family members; mother of children, Andala Elrod.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Bonifay First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ernie Dupree and Rev. Mitch Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the East Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM at Bonifay First Assembly of God Church.
