Ms. Carolyn Virginia Coatney, age 87, of Ponce de Leon, Florida passed away April 6, 2026, at her home.  She was born April 21, 1938, in Washington County, Florida to the late Robert Bell and Willie Mae Davidson Bell.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Coatney was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Amos Coatney and five siblings, Kathleen, Thomas, Louise, Margret, and Kenneth.

 

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, and is reunited with her beloved husband, Ernest, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage.  She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially cooking and reading.  Above all else, she cherished her family, holding a deep and abiding love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Time spent with them was her greatest treasure, and the memories they created together will be forever held close in their hearts.

 

Ms. Coatney is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Wilson and husband Kris and Lisa Bulriss and husband Hector; four grandchildren, Heather Swanson and husband Mike, Tabitha Myers and husband Tracy, Erica Lewis and husband Josh, and Shawn Donahoe; seven great-grandchildren, Courtney, Kai, Brodee, Trenady, Tessa, Trent, and Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, April 10, 2026, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 PM at Peel Funeral Home.
