DOTTIE V. TAUNTON CLARK


Dottie V. Taunton Clark, better known to most as Maw, age 67, of Bonifay, Florida passed from this life on August 30, 2022, at home. She was born January 16, 1955, in Monticello, Florida to the late Charlie Taunton of Bonifay, FL and Dorothy Padgett Taunton of Basin Bayou, FL. In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Millard Clark, Jr., three brothers, Alvin Russ, Bobby Taunton, and Tommy Taunton, and five sisters, Dorothy Muriel Murray, Barbara Riley, Charlene Cox, Jean Foley, and Irene Rhodes.


Dottie was an active member with the Holmes County Fire Departments and the American Red Cross. She loved all her family unconditionally and was always willing to help anyone in need. She worked with the Alabama State Inspection Service until she was injured at another job and couldn’t return the following season. She was a state certified cosmetologist and was commensurate to duty for fire service. She was an avid bingo player. She may not win all the time, but she sure loved going.


Mrs. Dottie is survived by two daughters, Angelia Dawn Clark Curry and husband Mark of Bonifay, FL and Heather Clark-Sellers and husband Alfred of Bonifay, FL; one brother, Timmy Tillman Taunton; five grandchildren, Heather Martin and husband Jacob of Geneva, AL, Michael Dustin Gammons and Megan Peacock of Hartford, AL, Kayla Gammons of Bonifay, FL, Victoria Harrington and husband Timothy of Bonifay, FL, Cassey Miles and husband Justin of Cottondale, FL; seventeen great grandchildren, Baylor, Ben, Beau, Baby Martin, Mason, Waylon, Cashton, Areia, Alionna, Amberlynn, Alexander, Spencer, Annalise, Hazel, Hadlynn, Preston, and Parker; special family members, Glen Scott and special friend, Bernita Starr of Marianna, FL, and Janice Conner of Bonifay, FL; special lifetime friend, Tink Brown of Bonifay, FL; special firefighter family with the members of the Holmes County Fire Departments; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.


Special thank you Covenant Hospice of Marianna, Nurse April, Aide Ashley, Caseworker Jimmy, Nurse Adrianna, Aide Tracey, Nurse Vera.


Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 3, 2022, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Clark Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 PM Saturday at Peel Funeral Home.


Serving as pallbearers are Stephen Jones, John Jones, Lawrence Whitaker, Will Russ, Kasie MacConnell, and James Russell.
