Ms. Florence Inez Fleming, age 98, passed away December 17, 2024, at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Florida. She was born August 23, 1926, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Jesse Alvin Pettis and Nora Elizabeth Birge Pettis. In addition to her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Coley Fleming, three sons, Kenneth Smith, Kalvin Smith, and Kellen Smith, two sisters, Pacy Pettis and Ruth Carr, and six brothers, Lucky Pettis, Laney Pettis, David Pettis, Donnie Pettis, Dewey Pettis, and John Pettis.
Ms. Fleming is survived by one daughter, Katrine Smith Truman; one son, Kevin Thomas Fleming; one sister, Bonnie Pettis Smith; two brothers, Louie Pettis and wife Earline and Charles Pettis; a sister-in-law, Eufaula ‘Pat’ Pettis; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 20, 2024, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Poplar Head Independent Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM at Peel Funeral Home.
