THELMA ALTHA CURRY

Mrs. Thelma Altha Curry, age 84, of Bonifay, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.  Mrs. Curry was born March 29, 1941, in Newport News, Virginia to the late Clarence Gable Phillips and Thelma Hewett Phillips.  In addition to her parents, Altha was preceded in death by one grandson, Austin Curry.

Altha graduated from Holmes County High School in 1959 and received her Associate of Nursing degree from Georgia Baptist in 1962.  She worked as a registered nurse and retired after many years of service from Doctors Memorial Hospital and Holmes Correctional Institution.  Being a devout Christian, she shared her God given talent of both music and flower arranging with her local church.

Mrs. Curry is survived by her husband of 62 years, Alvin E. ‘Simon’ Curry of Bonifay, FL; three children, Greg Curry, Scott Curry and wife Christi, and Simona Mayo and husband Steve all of Bonifay, FL; three sisters, Carolyn Cooley of Bonifay, FL, Joy Galloway and husband Jerry of Geneva, AL, and Sue Markham and husband Tim of Gulf Breeze, FL; three grandchildren, Sabre Vassallo and husband Steven, Skyler Mayo and wife Carla, and Phillip Curry; three great-grandchildren, Avery Vassallo, Alivia Vassallo, and Kella Mayo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2026, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Live Oak Assembly of God Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 PM Friday at Peel Funeral Home.
