Mr. Wendell Lavaughn Smith, age 83, of Bonifay, Florida passed away October 25, 2023, at his home. He was born July 27, 1940, in Bonifay, Florida to the late Leamon Smith and Eula Lee Herring Smith. In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by three siblings, Shirley Jean Hill, Ray Smith, and Iva Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maryland Smith of Bonifay, FL; three children, Elisa Ruby Smith of Bonifay, FL, Rita Faye Treadway and husband Tracy of Bonifay, FL, and William Wendell Smith and wife Bonnie of Lake Placid, FL; six grandchildren, Nichole, Tiffany, Jimmy, Cody, Shelby, and Wade; five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jerry, Lyndsi, Emily, and Harley; four siblings, Roy Smith and wife Linda, Linda Sue Johnston and husband, Tom, Ronnie Smith and wife, Judy, and Ralph Smith and wife Julieta; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 30, 2023, in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Peel Funeral Home.
