Ms. Janet Gay Harcus, age 76, of Caryville, Florida passed away June 10, 2024, at her home. She was born October 27, 1947, in Pace, Florida to the late Ulysses Lee ‘U.L.’ Gay and Ada Kemp Gay. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband Mel ‘Buck’ Harcus, one son, Gregory Harcus, two grandchildren, Dakota Harcus and Stetson Harcus, and eight siblings, U.L. Gay Jr., Emory Gay, Patsy Peters, Gene Gay, Hazel Lewis, Thelma Short, Faye Jenkins, and Bob Gay.
Ms. Harcus is survived by two daughters, Melba Harcus and Tom Brewster and Krystal Carroll; eight grandchildren, Nathan Harcus, Milton Harcus, Massey Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Jacob Carroll, Joshua Carroll, Cheyenne Carroll, and Kyle Slay; five great-grandchildren, Cylee Harcus, Marilynn Harcus, Milton Harcus, Josiah McDonald, and Kinley Carroll; two brothers, Cary Gay and Nancy and Pasco Gay and Margie; two sisters, Carolyn Morris and Betty Pettingill; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorialization will be by cremation with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2024, at Grace Fellowship Christian Church.
