Jerry Wayne Ausley, 84, of Panama City, FL, passed away on August 15, 2025. Jerry was born to Clarence and Mildred Ausley on December 3, 1940, in the community of Lytle, AL. He attended Samson High School and later graduated from Auburn University.
He met his wife, Joan Brock Ausley, while in college, and they later married and spent 60 years together. Most of their time together was spent in Bonifay, FL, where Jerry was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club, Holmes County Chamber of Commerce, and the Dogwood Lakes Country Club.
Jerry was an avid golfer and loved being on the golf course every chance he had. He learned to play early in his marriage and developed a passion for the game that grew over the years. He had a standing game every Saturday for many years and loved taking golf trips with his brother and friends.
He loved his Auburn Tigers, especially Auburn football. He attended many games in person but also watched them on television or listened to the radio if he couldn’t be there. He was always a fan, even when it wasn’t easy to be one.
Jerry worked for the Federal government for more than 30 years. He was with the United States Department of Agriculture in the Farmers’ Home Administration, which later became known as USDA Rural Development.
Throughout his life, Jerry was known as a kind and generous man who always helped those in need. He was very involved with his community and took great pride in helping to make the city of Bonifay and Holmes County shine.
The thing Jerry loved the most of all was his family. He loved nothing more in the world than spending time with his two beautiful grandchildren, his daughters, and his wife.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Joan Brock Ausley; his two daughters, Amy Ausley and Elizabeth Paige Rowell; his two grandchildren, Caitlin McNeilage, and Riley Rowell; his brother, Joe Ausley, and wife, Tril; his sister-in-law, Ann Ausley; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Ausley.
