Mrs. Karen Marie Strickland, age 68, of Vernon, Florida passed away April 23, 2024, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida. She was born October 25, 1955, in Denver, Colorado. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Maureen Conrad Grace, her father, Irving Grace, and her husband and father to her child, David Austin.
Karen was full of kindness and generosity. She was known for her passion for crafting, creating things, crocheting, and sewing. Her dedication to serving others extended beyond her membership in the Vernon Fire Department and volunteering for the Red Cross; she would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Karen's sweet and kind-hearted nature endeared her to all who knew her, especially the children, whom she adored. A strong woman, she was admired for her ability to give advice and wisdom to those around her. Karen's legacy of selflessness and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by her husband, Robert Earl Strickland of Vernon, Florida; one daughter, Christina Taylor and husband, Chris of Vernon, FL; five grandchildren, Isaiah Reprogle, PFC Andrew Reprogle, Angel Sinard, Jason Sinard, and Alec Griffin; five great-grandchildren, Easton Dudley, Elizabeth Sinard, David Sinard, Xhaydon Griffin, and Kae’Lohni Griffin; five siblings, Kathleen Rowland of Snohomish, WA, Sharon Grace-Jones and Kenny of Los Angeles County, CA; Ron Conrad and Kat of Snohomish, WA, Darrell Conrad and Pam on Los Angeles County CA, and Don Conrad of Snohomish, WA; several nieces and nephews.
Memorialization will be by cremation with a Celebration of Life service to be held at a later date.
