Kathy Ann Braxton of Bonifay, Florida passed from this life to her Heavenly Home on April 4, 2026 at the age of 68. She was a lifelong resident of Bonifay. She was a 1975 graduate of Holmes County High School and still tried to keep up with many of her classmates.
Kathy worked for the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office beginning in 1977 through 1983, then again from 1989 to 2016. She worked for six different Sheriffs during those years. From 1983 through 1988 she worked at the Holmes County Extension Office.
Kathy enjoyed going to various church events. She attended Carmel Assembly of God on Sunday morning and West Bonifay Baptist Church on Sunday night. She delighted in cooking and taking food to others. She also enjoyed her flowers and working in her yard. She loved Jesus Christ with all her heart and wasn’t ashamed to tell others about Him.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 46 years, Jed Braxton; her parents, W.J. and Etta Mae Bradley; one sister, Patricia Gayle Bradley; and father and mother in law, Tommy and Ruth Braxton.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Bethany Riley and husband Shawn of Slocomb, Alabama; grandsons Luke and Josh Riley of Slocomb, Alabama; sister Janice Richards and husband Terry of Bonifay, Florida; sisters in law, Jennifer Braxton and Lota Kay Braxton, both of Chipley, Florida; Nieces Tanya Champion and husband Jason; Terri Lee and husband Bryan; Ashleigh Taylor and husband Dave; Nephews David Bryant and wife Lea, and Jamison Cullifer. She was also survived by several great nieces and nephews and her Son-in-Laws parents, Carlos and Janice Riley.
Funeral services will be held at Carmel Assembly of God Church on April 8, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 with the service following at 2:00. Burial will be at Carmel Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home directing.
