OLIVIA  HAMMACK  HAINES

Olivia Hammack Haines passed peacefully at home on January 23,2024. She was born on November 11, 1947, and lived most of her life in Holmes and Washington County Fl.  She is preceded in death by her parents Arol Lorraine Hammack and Oma Hudson Hammack, her brother, Bill Hammack and her husband, Jon Allen Haines.  She is survived by: her daughter Marcy Haines Cunningham, son-in-law, Jeff and beloved grandson, Hudson, of Roswell, GA, daughter Deanna Haines of Vernon, FL and her in-laws Gary Haines (Judy), Pat Haines (Susan), Janet Beddow (Mark) and Nancy Crawford (Carter).  She was a beloved aunt and great aunt to her 3 nephews, 5 nieces, 5 great nephews and 4 great nieces.

She graduated from Vernon High School with the class of 1965.  She attended Chipola Jr. College and later the University of West Florida, for her Bachelor’s and Master’s.  The University was also where she met her soulmate and husband Jon.   She served the education community teaching elementary school, managing early intervention programs, and later preparing and coordinating pre-k programs in Holmes County, Florida for nearly 40 years.  Teaching for her and her husband was more than a career, it was a way of life.

She had a loving, kind and fun personality and was very much loved by her family and friends.  She was truly one of a kind, with an infectious heart and laugh.  She was a wonderful cook; her recipes are family treasures. She was a stellar gardener and would speak to anyone she could about a new plant.  She loved caring for those she loved.  Most recently, her biggest joy was spending time with her grandson and sharing all her wonderful character, love, and stories!

Olivia Haines will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her legacy of kindness, generosity and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

If you wish to honor her, please donate a children’s book in her name to the local library or given her love of gardening, plants and flowers are always welcome.

A celebration of life will be held at Peel Funeral Home, on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM.  The family will receive visitors one hour before and after the service.
