THELMA COATNEY GIPSON

Ms. Thelma Coatney Gipson, age 90, of Vernon, Florida passed away on September 24, 2025, at her daughter's home.  She was born on October 22, 1934, in Washington County, Florida.  Ms. Gipson was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Gipson, her mother, Carmine Faulk Coatney, her father, William ‘General’ Coatney, two brothers, Shorty Coatney and Alphie Coatney, one son, Jimmy Gipson, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Ms. Gipson is survived by nine children, Shirley Marshall, Glen Gipson and wife Rhonda, Jean Collins, Margaret Jones, Jeanette Johnson and husband Alex, Don Gipson, Lounette Jenkins and husband Tim, Judine Jenkins and husband Greg, and Rodger Gipson; one sister, Della Levins; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 26, 2025, in the St. John Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Keith Mashburn officiating.  Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.  The family will receive friends prior to the graveside from 1 to 1:45 PM Friday at Peel Funeral Home.
