Retired Lieutenant Colonel Merrill Thomas Beasley, age 89, of Panama City, Florida passed away on September 10, 2026, surrounded by his family.  He was born on October 17, 1936, in Elba, Alabama.  Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Rosa Kendrick Lee, his father, Homer Lee, and two siblings, Annette Boston and husband Bobby and Sammy Lee and wife Carolyn.

Mr. Beasley is survived by his loving wife of seventy-one and a half years, Waulene Beasley; his son, Brian Beasley; his daughter, Berrin Beasley and husband Bill Stewart; four grandchildren, Savannah, Lauren, Brennan, and Brook; along with several siblings, nieces, and nephews.

He proudly dedicated 30 years and 28 days of service to the Florida Army National Guard, where he served with honor and distinction. During his military career, he supported multiple operations, always answering the call to serve. He eventually retired as the Commanding Officer of the 3rd Battalion, 124th Infantry, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, dedication, and service to his fellow soldiers and his community.

While his military career was an important part of his life, his greatest joys were found close to home. He especially enjoyed raising cattle on the family farm, where he spent countless hours caring for his animals. The farm was more than a place; it was a way of life and a place where family, hard work, and memories came together.

He will be remembered for his strength, leadership, work ethic, love of family, and commitment to serving others. Whether wearing his uniform, working on the farm, or spending time with those he loved, he gave his very best to everything he did.

A private graveside service was held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 12, 2026, in the St. Johns Baptist Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.
