RUTH CARROLL

Ms. Ruth Carroll, age 89, of Vernon, Florida passed away September 12, 2026, at her home.  She was born on August 5, 1937, in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas.  Ms. Carroll was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Franklin Edwards, her mother, Zollie Mae Martin Elrod, her husband, Jack Carroll, five brothers, Charles Edwards, Troy Edwards, Johnny Edwards, James Edwards, and Billy Edwards, and two sister, Betty Vereker and Cecil Edwards.

Ms. Carroll is survived by four daughters, Desiree Romeo, Vanessa Wheeler, Katrina Quist, and Judi Burant and husband Jim; four grandchildren, Autumn, Savannah, Heather, and Carroll-Anne Ruth; one great-grandson, Westley; one sister, Millie Otwell; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a very active and devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church in Vernon, Florida, where her faith was not simply something she spoke about, it was something she lived each day. She had a genuine heart for helping others and dedicated countless hours to serving her church and community.  One of Ruth’s greatest ministries was running the church food pantry.  She cared deeply about making sure that families and individuals in need had food on their tables.  She was also a passionate advocate for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. She believed strongly in the ministry of sending Christmas shoeboxes to children around the world and worked faithfully to encourage others to participate. Through her dedication, generosity, and love for children, Ruth helped spread not only gifts but also hope and the message of Jesus Christ.

A celebration of life service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Eastside Baptist Church of Vernon, Florida. Memorialization was by cremation with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations maybe given to the Eastside Baptist Church Food Pantry in memory of Ruth.
