Ms. Ruth Carroll, age 89, of Vernon, Florida passed away September 12, 2026, at her home.  She was born on August 5, 1937, in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas.  Ms. Carroll was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Franklin Edwards, her mother, Zollie Mae Martin Elrod, her husband, Jack Carroll, six brothers, Charles Edwards, Troy Edwards, Johnny Edwards, Cecil Edwards, James Edwards, and Billy Edwards, and one sister, Betty Vereker.

Ruth was a very active and devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church in Vernon, Florida, where her faith was not simply something she spoke about, it was something she lived each day. She had a genuine heart for helping others and dedicated countless hours to serving her church and community.  One of Ruth’s greatest ministries was running the church food pantry.  She cared deeply about making sure that families and individuals in need had food on their tables.  She was also a passionate advocate for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. She believed strongly in the ministry of sending Christmas shoeboxes to children around the world and worked faithfully to encourage others to participate. Through her dedication, generosity, and love for children, Ruth helped spread not only gifts but also hope and the message of Jesus Christ.

Memorialization will be by cremation with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
